A collectible figurine for the person behind the chair: a duck with shears, cape and the practised stance of someone who has been standing for nine hours. It is built as a display piece for a styling station, where it competes with product bottles for space and wins on personality.
Station decor with a job to do
A styling station is a small, hard-worked shelf that the client stares at for forty-five minutes. Something with a face on it changes the conversation, which is a real thing in a chair-rental trade built on repeat clients. It also travels as the gift between colleagues at graduation from a hairdressing programme, or on the day someone finally rents their own chair. Printed in Quebec.
How the detail holds
Printed in PLA at a 0.16 mm layer height on our own FDM machines. The shears are the thin, fragile feature on this model and the resolution is set to keep the blades reading as blades rather than as a lump — worth knowing if you are placing it somewhere it can be knocked.
On a working station
A styling station is wet, warm and busy, so put it on the mirror ledge rather than beside the basin. Product overspray is the real enemy of a printed finish; a wipe with a dry cloth at the end of the week is enough to keep it clean. Avoid alcohol-based cleaners, which will cloud the surface.
