Gentle, not irreverent
A collectible figurine of a duck in papal vestments, sculpted with more affection than mischief. It is a display piece that gets the tone right, which is the hard part with religious subjects: the mitre and robes are treated as costume detail to be rendered carefully rather than as a punchline.
Who it is for
Parish office desks, seminary shelves, the relative who has been to Rome four times and mentions it, the person whose faith and sense of humour occupy the same room comfortably. It also travels well as a souvenir substitute for anyone who has just come back from the Vatican. Printed in Quebec.
Sculpted detail
Printed in PLA at a 0.16 mm layer height on our own FDM machines. The mitre’s peak and the fall of the vestments are modelled as real volumes, so the piece reads correctly from the side and behind rather than only from the front.
Placement and care
It stands on its own and reads well at eye level on a bookshelf, which is where most of these end up. Vestment detail collects dust in the folds faster than a smooth figure does, so a soft dry brush works better than a cloth. Keep it away from candles and out of sustained direct sun.
