Description
The Baseball Gnome is a straightforward idea executed carefully: take the standard gnome — pointed hat, full beard, planted stance — and hand it a bat and ball. The sporting equipment is modelled as part of the sculpt rather than added on, so the bat sits in the hands properly and the stitching on the ball is cut in rather than painted.
Getting the equipment right
Small props are where sports figures usually fall down. A bat printed too thin bows; printed too thick it looks like a club. The proportions here are set so the bat reads correctly against the gnome’s body height, and the ball carries visible stitching, which is the single detail that makes a baseball read as a baseball rather than a sphere.
Beard and hat, unchanged
The traditional gnome elements are left alone deliberately. The beard flows the way it should, the hat comes to a proper point, and the stance is the classic planted one. That restraint is what stops the piece becoming a generic sports mascot — it is recognisably a gnome that plays baseball, not a baseball player in a hat.
Where it lands
Home office, shelf, or slotted into a wider gnome collection where the sporting theme gives it a distinct role. It also works as a gift for a baseball follower who has run out of shelf space for signed items, since it takes up very little.
Made at our own farm
This is an original 3DCentral design, printed at our Laval facility in Quebec in premium PLA, with the sporting details and beard textures held in a single run. A decorative collectible for ages 14 and up. The bat is the thinnest element on the sculpt, so lift the figure by the body. Keep it away from heat and prolonged direct sun, and dust it dry.
