What Is a Commercial 3D Print License?
If you own a 3D printer and want to sell printed products, you need the legal right to commercially produce and sell those designs. A commercial 3D print license grants you permission to manufacture and sell physical prints of digital designs that someone else created.
Without a proper license, selling prints of designs you did not create yourself is a violation of the designer intellectual property rights. This is true regardless of where you found the design — even free models on Thingiverse often have non-commercial licenses.
3DCentral Commercial License simplifies this process. For a monthly subscription, you get access to our growing library of original STL designs with full commercial printing rights. Print them, sell them, and build your business legally.
Who Needs a Commercial License?
If you sell 3D printed products on Etsy, eBay, Amazon, at craft fairs, or through any other sales channel, you need commercial rights for every design you produce. This includes print farms, side hustlers, small businesses, and hobbyists who sell on the side.
Even if you modify a design before selling it, the original designer rights still apply in most cases. Scaling, changing colors, or making minor adjustments does not create a new work from a copyright perspective.
Our Supporter License tier at 19.99 per month is designed for hobbyists who want to print designs for personal use from our full library. Our Commercial License at 49.99 per month adds the right to print and sell these designs commercially.
What Our Commercial License Includes
Subscribers get access to our complete STL library, which grows with at least one new design added daily. Every design is an original 3DCentral creation — no copyrighted characters or trademarked content that could put your marketplace accounts at risk.
The license covers unlimited physical prints — you can print as many copies as you want of any design in the library. The only restriction is that you cannot redistribute the digital files themselves.
Your license is active for as long as your subscription is current. If you cancel, commercial rights are revoked for future sales, but you do not need to destroy existing inventory. Simply stop producing new units of our designs.
How to Get Started
Getting started is straightforward. Subscribe on our license page, access the STL library through your account dashboard, and download the designs you want to print. Each file comes with recommended print settings for optimal results.
We support our licensees beyond just providing files. Our community forum connects licensees with tips on printing, pricing, marketing, and growing their 3D printing businesses.
Visit our license page to see current pricing, browse available designs, and read the full license terms. We also offer a preview of the library so you can see what is available before subscribing.
