Articulated dragons are the pinnacle of print-in-place engineering — dozens of joints, wing mechanisms, and tail segments working together in a single print. Here is what makes them special.
Engineering Complexity
A fully articulated dragon features 30-50 individual joints — spine segments, wing joints, leg articulation, jaw hinge, and tail sections. Every joint must print with precise clearances for smooth movement.
Print-in-Place Magic
These dragons emerge from the printer fully assembled. No glue, no screws, no assembly required. The engineering ensures all joints are free-moving from the moment the print completes.
Size and Presence
Articulated dragons range from 6 to 14 inches long. Larger sizes allow for finer joint detail and smoother movement. The biggest models make commanding display pieces with dramatic posing options.
Color and Material
Metallic silk PLA in gold, copper, or red creates stunning dragon aesthetic. Multi-color filament adds natural-looking scale variation. PETG versions offer increased durability for hands-on posing.
Design Credits
Our dragon line features designs from several community artists, each bringing unique interpretations of dragon anatomy and articulation. Different artist styles mean different dragon characters.
